What to expect during your first appointment...
To make an appointment please call into the practice or phone us on 01530 510783 to speak to one of our friendly receptionists. Alternatively, you can book your first appointment online. The payment for the consultation will be taken at the time of booking to secure the appointment. If time allows a welcome pack will be sent in the post which includes further information about the practice and some forms to fill in prior to your visit. If time doesn’t allow this will be given when you attend for your appointment.
On entry to the Practice, you will be greeted with a smile from our experienced staff and asked to fill in some paperwork (if you have not already done so). Please arrive at least five minutes before your appointment time to allow for this. This includes a medical history form, a short survey about your oral needs and a consent form. All of this information we feel it vital so that we can get to know you better and provide the best care, tailored specially to your needs.
You will be welcomed into the surgery by your dentist Mr. Mike Ingram or Mrs. Suzie Ingram and invited to take a seat. Anxious patients are welcome to bring a friend for the initial consultation. Mike or Suzie will then talk through the paperwork you have filled in and any issues or concerns you may have.
These consultations can cover a variety of topics, indeed many patients remark on how it is the first time they have ever been properly listened to! For this reason, initial consultations are also usually recorded.
A detailed 25 point examination of your oral health is then carried out. During this time you may hear the dentist and nurse calling out various areas they are checking. This ensures all details are recorded and forms the basis for any treatment plan you may need.
Following the thorough examination the dentist will discuss any findings with you and produce a treatment plan should you need one. We use photographs to fully explain and demonstrate any areas of interest, plus provide examples of our own work so you can assess a realistic result.
You will then be invited to visit the reception desk to arrange any further appointments you may need and discuss the care plans we have on offer at the Practice. We have found that patients on Care Plans attend more regularly and spend less on treatment than those who pay as they go, which is why our Care Plans are our default option.
